After uploading your pictures to the Picture Gallery, go to the picture in the gallery and right click on it to get its properties, copy the URL for the picture out of the properties (ctrl + c to copy ctrl + v to paste).
When you are creating a new post or doing a reply you will see under the subject box some buttons. One is the "Img" button. Click that button (or alt + p) then paste the URL to the right of the [img] tag that has been placed into the text box you will be typing into. After pasting the URL click the Img button again. It will look something like this (Except I'm substituting {'s for ['s) so the example doesn't show-up as a link):
{Img}http://www.howtogrowtobacco.com/forums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10006/normal_Tobacco_011.jpg{/Img}
You will not see the picture until you preview your post. If the picture isn't displayed when you preview then make sure you pasted the whole URL. The picture won't display if the URL is wrong.
HTML tags use the / to indicate the end of the statement. The first time you click the Img button the tag will look kinda like this: {img} (Indicating the beginning). The second time you click it will look kinda like this: {/img} (Indicating the end).

Here is the picture displayed by using the above example:

Hi Roy,

Do the photos have to be posted on HTGT site, or can they be posted off site? Like Flickr or photobucket, etc? It seems like some of our members use off -site photos hosting sites, but I can't quite make my links work, even following the directions carefuly. Oddly, I can't even get the quote feature to work right.

I figured it out!

In the posting field, there is a row of tools. Use the tool called "IMG" Your link can be located anywhere on the web, but VERY IMPORTANT

In your user preferences, there is a selection called "Disable BBCode" which is located under Posting Preferences or something similar. It is probably why I couldn't use some of the other features as well.

Cheers!

I'm practicing.

I was using the full size picture, I just tried it again and my hand slipped down and I found out I was not copying all of the url. Part of it was hid. Now I got it. Thanks Roy for the help.

Don't feel bad mudduck, I can't do anything with the photos in the gallery here either.
I usually edit a photo to post in the gallery.
Then I go back to my picture and go to Image shack and edit it for forum use, that code will work here.
So, I have photos in gallery, and photos in posts that never match.

It looks like you're using a thumbnail URL. Go to the full sized picture, right-click on it, select properties then copy the url from the property window. Don't copy from the address bar in your browser because what you copy from there won't work. Drag your mouse pointer over the URL while holding the left mouse button to select what you want to copy.
Assuming you're using Windows here are 2 handy shortcuts:
While holding the Ctrl key: Press c to copy, v to paste

Yep I have been making that mistake, you have to go to the full size view then it will work perfect,
thanks for the clarification Roy
