How to Grow Tobacco

well title says it all, i am curious how to make a nice menthol(relitivly strong) i usually smoke golden havest and am set for this year at pre-tax hike. i would like a relitivly low tar high nicotine, which is hard since they are linked and high menthol. i haeve bought menthol crystals(which turned into a menthol block lol) i wrapped them in alot of paper towel and rubber banded it so i didnt have stray bits of menthol crystals. this maintained it mut to get the flavor into the tobacco would be better.
does the commercial menthol contain sugar? if so how to add with out making yeast

should all this be done pre-age or shortly before smoking?

Well, first of all, you can buy menthol tubes and just stuff them with the regular tobacco of your choice.

The commercial cigarette manufacturers just make a pack of regular cigarettes, except they add a dab of some kind of menthol oil to the inside of the package. By the time the customer gets it, the menthol has evaporated and been absorbed by the cigarettes.

In general, for a flavor like menthol, you shouldn't actually have to "add" anything to the tobacco; if you can put it in a "mentholated" environment the tobacco should suck the flavor right out of the air.

i usually do menthol tube and tobacco. just the tube doesnt do it for me. like i said i have placed menthol crystals in tobacco contained and that really didnt have the punch of fresh menthol tobacco.

ok does anyone know what the difference between mentol candle theraputic and aroma therpy oil would be. i can get a good price on menthol candle oil but dont want to go near it if its processed with something nasty like caustic soda or sulfuric acid ...

I don't know anything about menthol for cigarettes, but I think you would definitely look for things that are 'food grade' because indirectly you would be ingesting it. Look at the label, does it say not to get it on your skin, or to flush with water to remove it, if you do? That would be hints that it is or is not safe to use.
Good luck! Have you considered seeing if you can grow menthol plants and dry that to add to your cigarette?

menthol is a extract or um product of mint and mint is tricky to grow you can plant 'pepermint' from a pepermint plant and get any form of mintmost the time its grown as clones to get the right plant

I use mint to prevent erosion, attract honeybees, and make a shelter for my 'free range' chickens to hide in when a hawk flies over. I planted it once upon a time. Now, it self seeds. We cut it down and it re-grows.

lol some one planted chives before my grandparents(RIP) bought thier place like 50 yeas ago we always had tryed to get rid of them but they wont die, and we cant seem to dig it all up.. does smell good when ya hit it with the mower though

I myself don't smoke menthol normally. I don't mind them but I would rather smoke Regular Tobacco. I've heard that Menthol is a unhealther cigarette? But when I have a cold that is all I can smoke.

A few of my friends and my girlfriend do smoke menthol. She has talked about buying these menthol crystals also. And yea the menthol tubes are a joke they do almost nothing to the flavor. I talked about using mint leafs but I'm not sure that would work well either. Has anyone perfected this yet just curious?

I have boiled the vicks vapor rub u inhail in boiling water, i seperate the oily rub and boil the water, then pour in glass jar, let cool, the po ur in new glass jar , each tiem it leaves the film of the rub from vapor rub behind, i do this untill im left with water that smell like vapor rub, but has no sticky,vapor rub left. I then drop some dried leaves in the bottle that the water was in. will see how that works. I dont know if i want to apply the leftover water from the vapor rub boil down, i might just put some in a cosoaked coffee filter, set it in an open jar that will sit in a closeable ice cream bucket, then put some leaves at the bottom of the ice cream pail , close the lid and see if the leaves absorb the smell.

I tried mint extract, too minty, not mentholly.

I am experimenting, i dont know what im doing so i really dont recomend doing what im doing unless u know a chemist u can consult!!

yes you can biuy premade menthol flavoring from seedman.com its like 5$ got 2oz ready mix sprayer + $4.50 shipping. The menthol does not seem very strong to me.

If you use an injector to make your cigs they make a menthol tube. I haven't tried them just seen em at the store.

New to this post thing and I really don’t like to write but here goes. I am a non smoker that grows tobacco mostly for the fun of it and to use in my bee smoker (along with cotton rags). I just happen to like the smell of it, kinda like the old time Luckys or Camels, I don’t think the bees really care!

About the Menthol – a few crystals in a closed container should flavor the tobacco in a matter of days, depending on the temperature. Higher temps like 80-100F will be much quicker than lower temps. I’d suggest taking some regular cigarettes and place them in a glass or metal container that seals well, add a few menthol crystals and see what they taste like after a day, several days or a week or more. Find the time and go from there. I’d place the menthol in a cloth bag, like the old tobacco bags because you should be able to use the menthol for quite a while till it completely evaporates. I have pure USP menthol crystals that I use for bees and in manufacturing various lotions, lip balms and creams. I also sell various bulk chemicals so I may as well add menthol to the list. I don’t have a price yet as I just haven’t considered selling it. The shipping will be the outrageous part as the high price of shipping anything has really hurt my business.
