Smokers die early. How is this 'truth' established? Like this. If, this year, the average life expectancy is 78 and you die at 77 and smoke(d), the year you are missing is ATTRIBUTED to smoking, never mind genetics or the other million every day things that could have made you live one year "less". However, if you live one year "more", that extra year is NOT attributed to smoking because the ideology says that smoking kills by definition - so it must have been something else that made you live a little longer, but CERTAINLY NOT smoking.

Be that as it may, the hard and empirical evidence (no epidemiological attributions needed) shows that the world's oldest are or have been all smokers. To avoid sending the "wrong message" (the "right" one being that "smoking kills"), these people are called "exception to the rule". But are they all exceptions to that rule, or is it just the rule that is flawed by ideology and beliefs?

http://www.forces.org/static_page/oldest.php so perhaps the anti smoking campaign is meant to reduce the social security benefits(non smokers don't live as long), and also as a justification to raise taxes on tobacco?.

Hi
read the article and it agrees with our beliefs. My wifes Grandmother was either 106- 107-103 depending on what info you are reading. She raised her own tobacco and smoked all her life. She smoked hand rolled cigerettes unless she didn't have papers then it was pipe. Most of time when she was inside or busy doing something outside , she chewed. but she also dipped and kept some snuff close. she liked her tobacco. She lived in rural Kentucky and never NEVER had a store bought cigerette. Every thing she ate she raised, everything she smoked she grew. She had 6 kids that lived If Iam not mistaken, and her husband died in mines when he was about 40 she was 30 something. we don't think tobacco killed her either. or the little sip she took every night just for her heart. lol Lee

I had an ancestor that(according to records) was born in 1635 in Jamestown,VA and was killed by a jealous husband in 1753! When he had his pants on the old boy grew tobacco...probably used it too.

every president gets elected through donations from a lobbying group, obama's was the health lobby, which is anti smoking, and he's paying them back by getting their agenda passed into laws. sen. kennedy was the one who suggested a tax on tobacco to fund the SCHIP first, btw.

They should outlaw taking you pants off...it can kill you. Or better yet, put a tax on taking your pants off.

No Lonnie, that's what the records say, 1635 to 1753. There was a fellow in England that according to both Parish and Crown records lived to be 223 years old, he was a farmer, I wish I could remember his name and if I do I'll post it in the lounge.

Well I can believe the 118 as I read of some people making it past that age but simply can not buy the 223 stuff lol . I guess it could be true but still I'm not buying it lol
