Found this place researching growing my own tobacco.
Read a fair bit, plan to read a bunch more.
Plan to grow my own this coming season.

Right now got a couple started to see how it goes in doors.

Welcome to the forum. What sort of tobacco are you aiming for? Cigar, pipe, cigarette, chew? Do you have any particular number of plants that you are planning to grow? Will they go into the ground, or into pots?

Also, if you'll click on User Control Panel, in the upper right, and enter NH in the location box, then it will appear on all your subsequent posts, and allow other members to provide more useful advice.

Thanks Bob.

I bought two types, Virginia (500 seeds) and Nicotiana Rustica(100 seeds). Originally I had bought the Nicotiana Rustica and then I read it may be a bit to strong for safe driving, so I picked up the Virginia.

I aim to have about 140 plants, more if I can squeeze it. Looks like I will have one plot 10' x 24' and two or three others that look bigger, that I need to measure out. They will be in the ground excepting maybe two Nicotiana Rusticas.
Not sure if I will go with what seems to be the recommended 2' radius spacing or with a 1' foot spacing. My end goal is a pack a day for a year so I don't have to buy smokes and to capture my own seeds. I want to be self sufficient...

My Plans were for smoking with Cigarette tubes and a pipe both to start. If I like the pipe then I will cut out the cost of the cigarette tubes completely, unless I get my parents hooked on homegrown. Both have been smoking for decades and then I would certainly have to have more plots of tobacco as they smoke more than me...

I am not to caught up on taste, though I would prefer it not be horrible. I have an e-cig for taste... I am in it simply for the nicotine and the throat hit at the moment. Maybe if this works out I will mess around with more varieties and flavoring for the taste part.

Had a decent garden this year and the tomatoes did excellent, so I figured I might be able to handle this now.
